Demo Days!

We held our first Demo class last Friday in my home studio.  It was so fun and so nice to introduce Kindermusik to friends in my neighborhood! The kids were engaged and having fun.  I just love seeing their smiles!  I am hoping that these kids come back for more once my classes begin in October!

Right now I am working on learning the music and activities in the Wiggle and Grow - Colors and Shapes on the Farm Unit.  There are some really great songs!  Morning Sun Has Risen and Walking in the Green Grass have been running through my head all week-end, and I have caught my own kids singing them! It's wonderful!

Each Class meets once a week and is organized into 4 week units.  Every 4 weeks, the theme changes and the music and activities all change too.  It is a lot of work for a new Kindermusik teacher to learn them all! But I am so in love with this program and with the opportunity to learn so many different and engaging songs and activities for these young people! Plus parents get a new download every month with all the songs and access to the Kindermusik @ Home website with additional activities.

It's great because the more a child is exposed to this music and these activities, the more music will become part of their lives beyond their early years.  Studies have shown that children who have been involved in early childhood music programs are better prepared for school in not only self regulation and motor planning skills, but also in language and literacy, and math.

Come check out a class today!

It happened.  I received my license from Kindermusik International! I completed my coursework, finished holding my last practicum class, and nailed my interview.

Now I just need to find students...

Marketing doesn't come naturally to me.  I guess I was just taught that we don't flaunt.  Well, now it's time to flaunt and I am feeling a bit shy.

But, Kindermusik truly is the best program that I have found for children and their parents.  I have been searching for a program that I could feel passionate about.  This is it!

If you are looking for a cute recital at the end of classes with costumes and decorations - you won't find it.  We aren't performance driven. We are process driven. We are enabling children to love music, not pressuring them to be performers. We are providing the foundation of music learning for the future.

We strive to keep it age appropriate and for those of you that know me - know I am obsessed with this concept (hence my refusal to participate in copy paper drives for kindergartners and preschoolers - worksheets are not developmentally appropriate!).  Developmentally appropriate, means that we are not asking children to do something they are not physically or mentally capable to do, we are keeping the music and activities at their level.

Kindermusik is child centered - which means that we follow the child.  We provide the music and the ideas, and watch the child's reaction and go with it! If you come to my class and you feel like your child isn't particpating in a way that is appropriate, then I am doing something wrong.  Aside from aggressive behavior, there isn't a wrong way to participate.

Kindermusik is a place where a kid truly can be a kid.

It is fun!

It is quality music and materials.

It is research based.  During my master's degree studies I read a research paper that found that children who had participated in early childhood music programs, specifically Kindermusik, were better at self regulation - the ability to control their actions and emotions.

And most importantly, it is time for you to bond with your child.  There is so much going on in our busy lives! Make time to come to a Kindermusik class with your child and you will feel a little bit more fulfilled!

O.K. How is that for marketing?

What is Kindermusik?

It is happening.  Here in Gilbert, AZ.  Kindermusik is opening a new studio! Miss Sarah has been already finished teaching her practicum group and is ready to receive her teaching license! Check back soon for a list of classes starting in September!

What is Kindermusik?  Kindermsuik is an early childhood music and movement program for children ages newborn to age 7.  As children participate in this program they will sing, dance, laugh, and move all while developing their brains and bodies along the way!  While fostering a love of music, Kindermusik also helps children develop language and literacy, spatial awareness, and motor function control. The best part of all, it's just so much fun!
